SRPC relies heavily on the efforts of volunteers and is always eager to share what it is we do with new and interested individuals. Strafford Regional Planning Commission is designated per RSA 36: 45-58 and is a political subdivision. In the state of New Hampshire there are nine regional planning commissions. Strafford RPC encompasses all of Strafford County in addition to Brookfield and Wakefield in Carroll County, and Northwood, Nottingham, and Newmarket in Rockingham County.
SRPC is also designated as Strafford Metropolitan Planning Organization and Strafford Economic Development District. Each of these three entities, or functions, would not run effectively without the dedication of volunteers from our municipalities, partner agencies, and other involved stakeholders. Volunteers form steering committees for each of our three functions and guide the organization forward through the use of the volunteers' time, expertise, and assistance. View the committee breakdown structure below.
Contact Shayna Sylvia, Communications and Outreach Specialist for more information on any of these committees or for more information about how you can volunteer with SRPC!
Per the SRPC Bylaws each community in the Strafford region is allocated a certain number of representatives on the Commission as calculated based on the population of the community. This ranges from two representatives to four representatives. Representatives are either voting or non-voting members of the Commission dependent on whether the community they are representing pays dues to the organization.
See A Guide to Being a SRPC Commissioner for more information.
The Commission meets quarterly (normally at 4 pm), with the last meeting being the annual meeting/luncheon.
