The guiding document for the Economic Development in the region is the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS). This document highlights regional trends, happenings with businesses and industries in the regional, and priority projects and updates submitted by our communities and stakeholders,.
The Strafford Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy is set to be fully updated every five years, with a smaller update completed yearly. The Strafford CEDS is designed to bring together private, public and nonprofit sectors to create a road map for the regional economies. This process is completed with the help of a CEDS committee who works with SRPC staff to assess economic development needs and solutions for those needs in the region.

Engage in collaborative networks to sustain and grow the region's economic vitality and median income through business development, job creation, enhancement of the tax base, educational excellence, and cultural and civic diversity, all within a historic place rich in recreational opportunity and natural beauty.
As part of the CEDS process a committee of stakeholders and interested public/private parties was formed in 2010 to assist and guide staff in their work. The CEDS Strategy Commitee is responsible for the annual maintenance of the CEDS document, including adding new regional economic development projects and an analysis of regional data and trends. The Committee meets on an as needed basis and advises staff on planning processes and outreach.
Strafford EDD is tasked with completing annual updates to the five year Strafford Regional 2011-2016 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy. Project solicitation is a process by which Strafford EDD gets in contact with the regional communtities and other identified non-profits to grow and update their project database. The project database originated as part of the 2011-2016 CEDS and has grown during the multiple project solicitations that have taken place. Project solicitation occurs via a survey sent to communities. The survey includes the current project database list and suggests that communtites provide an update on past projects. in addition to submitting new projects.
