Presented by:
Strafford Regional Planning Commission and
Vanasse Hangen & Brustlin, Inc. (VHB)
This study is funded through a grant from the NH Department of
Transportation
The Strafford Regional Planning Commission secured funding to complete a two phase comprehensive Transportation and Land Use Study for the NH Route 125 Corridor funded through the State Planning and Research (SPR) program. Our consultant -- Vannasse, Hangen and Brustlin -- are in the process of completing the second phase of the comprehensive corridor wide transportation and land use study for the NH Route 125 corridor between NH Route 101 in Epping and NH Route 16 in Rochester.
Phase II of this study will focus on identifying innovative solutions to better integrate transportation and land use. The data collected in Phase I Ð primary environmental constraints and traffic counts - will provide the baseline data for Phase II of the study. The goal of the corridor study is to enhance safety, preserve capacity and protect the transportation dollars already invested in the roadway. In addition, the study will develop and recommend land use policies that are consistent with smart growth strategies. The study will identify and develop specific safety improvement projects for inclusion in the Seacoast Metropolitan Planning Organization Long Range Plan. Phase I of the NH Route 125 Corridor study was completed in late 2005.
